In 1906, a leather craftsman named Guccio Gucci founded the House of Gucci. It was in Florence, Italy, where Gucci started selling their handcrafted leather goods. In 1938, they opened a luggage store in Via Condotti, Rome which sparked international attention. Their equestrian look which carried over to their bags, trunks, gloves and shoes which gained popularity with celebrities such as Grace Kelly, Peter Sellers and Audrey Hepburn. In 1953 Guccio Gucci died, and his sons took over the business. The name Gucci is a world wide recognized brand synonymous with luxury
